SSL certificates
Encryption is
no longer optional
Secure the data transfer between your server and the browser against misuse. Users can check the certificate and see who is behind it. For e-commerce and for any transfer of confidential data, that is the foundation, not an extra.
SSL encryption
What an SSL certificate does
An SSL certificate (Secure Sockets Layer) encrypts the transfer between your server and your visitors' browsers and at the same time makes it possible to check who the operator is. Depending on the validation level, only the domain is checked, the organisation behind it, or – with extended validation – the organisation in particular depth.
We take care of obtaining, installing and renewing. Our certificates work with 256-bit SSL encryption.
Validation levels
DV, OV or EV?
DV – domain validated. The only check is that you control the domain. Issued within a few minutes. Suitable for internal pages, admin interfaces and smaller shops.
OV – organisation validated. The organisation is also checked on the basis of documents. Issued within one to three days. Suitable for company websites and medium-sized shops.
EV – extended validated. The most thorough check of the organisation, issued within one to four days. Suitable for websites where trust matters a great deal.
Wildcard. Covers any number of subdomains of one domain – practical when new subdomains are added all the time.
PersonalSign. Not a server certificate but a personal certificate for signing emails and documents.

Frequently asked questions about SSL certificates
Why a paid certificate when there are free ones?
For encryption alone, a domain validated certificate is enough, and those are also available free of charge. The differences lie in the depth of checking (organisation and extended validated), the warranty cover, the term and the support. And: we take care of obtaining, installing and renewing, so that no certificate expires unnoticed.
What is a wildcard certificate?
A certificate that covers any number of subdomains of one domain. It saves applying for each one separately when new subdomains are added regularly.
Do you take care of renewal?
Yes. We keep track of the terms and renew in good time. Expired certificates are one of the most common causes of applications suddenly becoming unreachable.
Can I bring my own certificates?
Yes. In the content delivery network you can use either shared certificates or your own. We also install certificates you bring on load balancers and web servers.
What does a certificate cost?
That depends on the validation level and on how many names the certificate is to cover — a DV certificate for one domain and an EV certificate with a verified company are far apart. We state the price in the quote, together with the term. A figure we have not confirmed does not appear here.
What response times do you commit to?
We monitor around the clock, every day of the year. How quickly we intervene and through which escalation stages is set out in your contract — a time we have not committed to is not a time we state here.
