Monitoring
Knowing something is stuck — before your customer calls.
Monitoring is the service you only notice when it is missing. We monitor your systems while they run, keep them up to date with patches and intervene before an anomaly turns into an outage.
What it is about
Two things that belong together
Monitoring answers the question of whether a system is running and how it is doing: is it reachable, how heavily loaded are processor, memory and disk, are the services running that should be running, is storage getting tight, is the certificate still valid.
Patching answers the other question: is the system up to date. A known security vulnerability is not closed by monitoring but by an update — and that has to be applied before it is exploited.
We keep optimising the performance of your system landscape on an ongoing basis, using suitable preventive monitoring metrics and performance analyses. The benefit does not show in a report, but in the calls that do not come.
- Availability and response time
- Processor, memory, disk
- Services and processes
- Expiring certificates

Monitoring and patching as a stage
Monitoring and patching are listed in the price catalogue as a stage of their own within system management — for Linux and for Windows. Which stage suits your systems we clarify in conversation.
Linux
- Managed OS – Admin Administration of the operating system
- €10.00 / month
- Managed OS – Monitoring & Patching Monitoring and updates
- €30.00 / month
- Managed OS – Advanced Monitoring & Patching Extended monitoring and updates
- €50.00 / month
Windows
- Managed OS – Admin Administration of the operating system
- €10.00 / month
- Managed OS – Advanced Monitoring & Patching Extended monitoring and updates
- €60.00 / month
All prices net, monthly, from the price catalogue of 14 January 2026. The exact scope of each stage is set out in the service sheet “Options for system management”, which we hand you with the quote. If the application on the system is to be looked after as well, the “Managed VM Application” stages come on top — see [Applications & Solutions](/en/managed-services/applications).
Service description
What each stage includes
The stages build on one another — each contains what the previous one does and adds something on top. The difference lies less in the tooling than in the question of who is responsible in the end.
Platform
The virtualisation environment based on Proxmox: redundant hardware, monitored management components, maintenance and updates of the platform. We are responsible for keeping it running — what you build on it in virtual machines is up to you.
Admin
We install and configure the operating system and hand it over. After that, you and we have equal administrative access: you run it, we support you with administrative tasks. Anything beyond that you commission as a service request, billed by time and effort.
Monitoring & Patching
Operating system updates and security patches run automatically in maintenance windows defined in advance and aligned with your operations. Processes, CPU, memory and storage are monitored continuously; we detect and report critical fault states around the clock, without you having to ask.
Advanced Monitoring & Patching
You choose the patching windows freely, and if needed our people apply updates by hand. Monitoring covers not only the operating system but also the applications on it — with dedicated sensors and thresholds that suit your operations. On top of that, support with troubleshooting around the clock.
Full-Managed
The complete handover: we have sole administrative access and carry responsibility for infrastructure, operating system and applications — installation, configuration, operation and updates included. Changes to the system go exclusively through agreement with us. In return, you do not have to deal with any of it.
What sits alongside
Monitoring is one of several layers. The others come from the same house.
Security scans
Regular vulnerability and compliance checks with a report and a catalogue of measures.
MoreIDS and IPS
Intrusion detection with dedicated rule sets — it watches behaviour, not just state.
MoreBackup and recovery
When monitoring is no longer enough, what counts is how quickly something comes back.
MoreLoad balancing
An outage that is monitored is better than one nobody notices. One that is caught is better still.
MoreFrequently asked questions
What happens when an alert is triggered?
We monitor around the clock, every day of the year. We look into it and intervene as far as the agreed scope covers. How quickly we intervene and through which escalation stages is set out in your contract — a time we have not committed to is not a time we state here.
Do you also monitor systems that are not hosted with you?
Availability can be checked from outside; for anything more, we need access on the system. Whether and how that works in your case, we take a look.
Do I get my own access to the monitoring?
Yes, if you want. We monitor with Icinga and display the values in Grafana; your team gets read access to it — the same values we look at. What should be in view we decide together.
Is patching included in monitoring?
In the “Monitoring & Patching” stages, yes — there the two belong together. The “Admin” stage covers administration of the operating system; exactly what each stage contains is set out in the service sheet we hand you with the quote.
Do we hear about a fault, or only you?
Both, and through the channel we agree beforehand — phone, email or ticket. We intervene as far as the agreed scope covers, and we report it anyway: whoever is responsible for a system should not learn from the monthly report that it was down overnight.
